We all know there are so many cells in the human body, which are very critical for our survival. These cells contain an important chemical known as lipid which is fat wax like substance also known as cholesterol. A particle called lipoproteins that flows in the blood contains this cholesterol.
Basically cholesterol is developed in our body through the cells but we also get some cholesterol from the food that we eat. There should be proper balance between the amount of cholesterol that we get from our body and the one we get from our food.
It is also interesting to know that there are two types of lipoproteins that carry cholesterol
- Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) also known as bad cholesterol. This cholesterol is bad for your body. High level of LDL forms a substance known as plaque which makes it harder for the blood to flow in the arteries which can even lead to a heart attack. So we should always keep the LDL level low.
- High-density lipoprotein (HDL) also known as good cholesterol. It is a protective source for our body which acts as a cleaner to remove the unwanted cholesterol from the body. So, generally, if your HDL is high, it means you are protected.
