Hara Channa & Soya Tikki

Ingredients

  • healthy green chutney
  • 1 1/2 cups soaked and boiled hara chana (green chick peas)
  • 1/2 cup soya granules
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped onions
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped mint leaves (phudina)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped coriander (dhania)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped ginger (adrak)
  • 1 tbsp finely chopped green chillies
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 2 tsp lemon juice
  • 4 tbsp ragi (nachni / red millet) flour
  • salt to taste
  • 3 1/4 tsp oil for greasing and cooking

Preparation

  1. Soak the soya granules in enough hot water in a deep bowl, cover with a lid and keep aside for 5 minutes.
  2. Drain and squeeze out all the water from the soya granules. Keep aside.
  3. Mash the hare chane with the help of a potato masher, add all the remaining ingredients including the soaked and drained soya granules in a deep bowl and mix well.
  4. Divide the mixture into 12 equal portions and shape each portion into a 50 mm. (2“) diameter flat, round tikki.
  5. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and grease it lightly using ¼ tsp of oil.
  6. Cook each tikki, using ¼ tsp of oil, till they are evenly cooked from both the sides.
  7. Serve immediately with healthy green chutney.
