IBS also known as Irritable Bowel Syndrome is basically a discomfort of stomach or may be some disorder in the intestine. It is not a critical condition or any disease.Bowel also known as large intestine when gets disturbed, it leads to Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Main symptoms of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- Constipation.
- Stomach pain or cramps
- Bloating
- Abnormal Stools
- Diarrhoea
- Pain or discomfort due to acidity
Treatment or precautions for IBS
- Eat less spicy food: Although spices do not necessarily harm your body, but sometimes they are likely to provoke diarrhoea and can interfere with sensitive bowel.
- Take high amount of drinks, but not caffeinated: Increase your intake of water but avoid caffeinated beverages like tea and coffee. Caffeinated beverages are more likely to produce IBS.
- Say No to Fats: Avoid eating fat-rich foodlike high fat cheese, peanut butter, margarine etc. If you are suffering from diarrhoea, the hydrogenated fats that are present in such foods can worsen your situation.
- Take required quantity of fibre: The quantity of fibre intake should be well adjusted depending on your medical condition. If you suffer from constipation, you may have to increase your fibre intake gradually. Make sure not to increase the fibre content in your diet suddenly, it should be gradually increased. On the other hand, if you suffer from bloating, you should reduce the fibre intake.
- Take small meals instead of larger:Try to take small meals more frequently, like in every 2-3 hours, instead of taking larger meals thrice a day. This helps in the easy digestion of the food.
- Regular Exercise: Regular exercises make your body fit and helps you in avoiding and treating this condition.
- Reduce your stress: Stress may also trigger this condition. You should reduce the stress on your mind and body.
